About

About Me

My name is Arousha Tofigh, an MSc Psychologist offering therapy online, here to guide you through challenges you may be struggling with.

I hold an Honors Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Summa Cum Laude Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Having spent my life as an expat in cities like Tehran, Dubai, Antwerp and Rotterdam has exposed me to a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, providing me with a rich appreciation and understanding of different cultures, personalities and perspectives that come into play in my practice. With a minor in Cross-cultural Psychology, I place additional emphasis on using a holistic approach that is based on a curiosity for the uniqueness of individuals and that takes into consideration the impact of cultural influences on mental health.

I have undergone online training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) under the guidelines of  The Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), and am currently undergoing training in Schema therapy according to the standards of Schema Therapy Training Online (STT). I currently also work under the supervision of an experienced therapist.

I am committed to continuously enhancing my professional development by undergoing further training and staying up to date with state-of-the-art research within the field.

Approach

My Approach

My key focus is on creating a space for your mind — a safe, trustworthy, accepting and nurturing space that allows you to identify and increase awareness of your innermost thoughts, feelings, and behavioural patterns, and address your inner conflicts. Through exploring your relationship with yourself and with others without judgment or reproach, I aim to collaborate with and empower you to chart a path forward that fosters greater understanding, growth and healing.

With a strong belief that people are intricate products of their unique and diverse life experiences, my approach is integrative and personalized. This means that the multifaceted needs, characteristics and goals of each individual, along with their context, environment and background will be taken into consideration in helping them reach their goals.

In general terms, therapy will involve exploring the various thought processes, behaviours and coping mechanisms that may be driving your mental challenges and striving towards exploring potential changes that can be made to reach transformational self-discovery, acceptance and well-being in various facets of your life.  The sessions will integrate different concepts and strategies from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and Mindfulness practices.
